When GP Beth Haswell heard Helipads For Hospitals founder John Nowell interviewed on BBC Radio Leicester while she was out running, she felt she had to support the charity.
She said: “You never know when it could be you/family/friend who would really benefit from the hospital having their own helipad – allowing a quicker, smoother, safer and more efficient journey.”
Beth bought some wheelie-bins, produced some labels and put one outside her home on the Daisy Banks Estate in Hathern. She let her neighbours know all about the charity and how they can help.
Very soon the bin was being filled with crushed cans.
Beth now hopes to get more wheelie bins near her home and workplace.
